Magnum

Magnum

Remembering Don Bouchard

by Larry Gore

Magnum (Don Bouchar)passed away Feb 11. Don had been in a coma with massive head injuries following a mid_December motorcycle accident.

A member of La Familia MC, Magnum was a well known fixture in the Houston motorcycle community for many years.

An avid and very talented photographer, Magnum captured many images of bikers and places from the road trips that he had taken. Recently he had been published several times in Forbes Motorcycling magazine including a feature story he did about a motorcycle trip through New Zealand.

Magnum’s accident was one of those type that you can never quite explain or accept. It was early morning and he was on his way to a toy run. Apparently he encountered uneven pavement as he approached a Rail Road track at low speed – less than 20 mph.

The bike went down and he sustained head injuries.

Biker deaths are a little easier to understand when someone was speeding, or drunk, or got hit by a car, or blew a tire or many of the other usual things.

But a low speed accident on a clear day is especially hard to accept.

But, as anyone who rides knows, ours is a dangerous sport and there is always the inherent risk of something going wrong.

In any event, Magnum died doing something he loved to to while going to a toy run to help underprivileged children.

We will miss you my friend.
