No island tour of entertainment venues would be complete without a stop at an outdoor, tropical, rooftop bar situated right across the street from the beach. So let’s go to Chico’s!
Chico’s Paradise is probably the newest addition to the Galveston entertainment and nightlife scene. It opened for business in August of 2006, and unlike the other venues featured here, it’s a brand-new building situated on the eastern end of the Seawall directly across from Stewart Beach. Striking in its architectural opulence as well as its breathtaking views of the Gulf. Striking also is the eye-catching airplane situated to appear as though it is striking the side of the building in a crash landing.
The fictional marketing story of Chico’s inception is thus: “After flying the world over (with many a mishap), when Chico crashed here, he stayed – proclaiming this location true paradise! He then set out to create an atmosphere that reflected his worldwide acquisitions. Whether it’s the food and drink recipes he’s collected, the cool merchandise he’s found along the way, or the music he loves most, he welcomes you and hopes you enjoy Chico’s Paradise”.
If you haven’t been here yet, when you think of Chico’s, think of dining, dancing, drinking and good times in a setting befitting the best that any spring break destination has to offer. When the weather warms up in Galveston, Chico’s heats up with live music on the outdoor rooftop bar, beachgoers on break partying down, and libations served up by Chico’s young, hip, friendly staff.
Though new to the Galveston entertainment scene, Chico’s has already hosted well-known acts from all over Texas including Romeo Dogs, Mark May, Luther & The Healers, Tayna Nolan, Surface, Green Onions and more. All shows are 21 and up and there is no cover charge. Since the stage is located outdoors, the live bands are on hold until the beginning of March, so be sure to stop back during Mardi Gras, Spring Break, and all summer long.
There are plans in the works to establish two more Chico’s in Orlando and Las Vegas, so be sure to experience this flagship club so you can say “I was there in Galveston when it all began!”
